There is no right or wrong way to give birth – the best way is whatever is right for you and your baby! Whether you give birth in a hospital or at home, with a midwife or an OB/GYN, naturally or via C-section, no two birth stories are exactly alike, and that’s what makes them so special. When it comes to making decisions about your unique birth experience, you want to make sure you are delivering somewhere that you feel comfortable, cared for, and safe. If you’re looking for a Reno birthing center, I highly recommend the new Family and Birth Center at Sierra Medical Center in the Northern Nevada Sierra Medical Center!
6500 Longley Lane, Reno, NV 89511
Northern Nevada Sierra Medical Center was opened in the spring of 2022 to keep up with the birthing center needs of the growing population in the Reno and Sparks region. It’s the first full-service hospital to be built in the area in nearly a hundred years, and it has quickly become the premier place for emergency and acute care. The hospital offers services including cardiology, labor and delivery, neurology, and orthopedics, among others. With private hospital rooms and an experienced, caring staff, it’s no wonder Northern Nevada Sierra Medical Center has become the preferred place for expectant families to welcome their new babies into the world!
Northern Nevada Sierra Medical Center’s Family Birthing Center offers capable and compassionate care as well as comfortable suites and facilities for Reno maternity care. You’ll labor, deliver, and recover in the same private room equipped with sleeping accommodations for your support person to stay by your side. In the event that you need a C-section, surgical suites are located within the unit. Anything you could need to keep you and your baby safe is at your fingertips in case you need it!
In the time leading up to your labor and delivery, you and your healthcare will work to create a birth plan that works best for your situation. If you choose, anesthetics like epidurals are available for pain relief throughout labor. Attentive nurses will be by your side to help you stay as comfortable as possible and to make sure you and your baby are doing well.
The Family Birthing Center takes family seriously, and they know how important it is to have your family by your side in this exciting time. Siblings are welcome to come visit their new baby brother or sister after you’ve delivered. While you’re recovering in your room, your baby will be close by in a Halo BassiNest Swivel Sleeper so you can have convenient access to them for feedings and cuddles.
Northern Nevada Sierra Medical Center’s Family Birthing Center has several unique offerings for new Reno moms and babies who deliver in their care. For example, while you hope your baby never needs it, they do have a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) on site that can care for infants born at 32 weeks or later who have specialized needs or conditions.
They also offer a variety of free prenatal classes and support groups taught by experienced nurses that help to provide a better understanding of what to expect in this exciting time of life. Additionally, their New-Mommy Concierge Program offers new moms private consultations with lactation consultants, as well as a comforting afternoon tea service!
Northern Nevada Sierra Medical Center’s Family Birthing Center worked hard to become a top Reno birthing center. Especially for expectant families that feel comfortable knowing they have access to comprehensive hospital care.
